Lonely at the office

I did a small research thesis on loneliness at the end of last year.*

Mother Teresa used to say that loneliness was the worst disease she’s ever seen, and she has seen some stuff…

1 in 5 teens report that they are lonely and have no friends.

Half of women in the workplace report feeling lonely.

The pandemic exposed the underlying disease of our time, loneliness.

Being lonely is more detrimental to your health than smoking 15 cigarettes per day. It causes anxiety and, of course, depression. Isolation also begets isolation. Being alone most of the day makes it more difficult to be among people the rest of the time.

Everything convenient from ordering groceries, tapping to pay, and remote work all make it worse.

And loneliness affects productivity and is a significant reason for people to leave your company.

I’m going to build a talk on this. It seems it’s needed now more than ever.
