In Kendo* blocking is permitted but frowned upon.

The unwritten rule is that instead of blocking, you should rather be seeking opportunities to attack.

Blocking will only get you so far and most probably make you vulnerable to an attack.

Blocking is not a worthwhile strategy.

And speaking of strategy.
