The day, the moment you were born the first thing that happened to you is that you were scored.

Even before being given to your mother.

You received a score out of 10.

And then another score a few minutes later.

A moment later you were weighed and measured.

And compared against the average.

And so the story goes, measuring attendance, grades, keystrokes, hours worked, emails sent, and ‘charisma’ in Zoom meetings.

Measurements matter when we measure what matters.

Sadly, we rarely do.
