Autarkeia

Autarkeia is a Greek word that means to be self-sufficient, having enough or having all your needs met.

Philosophers like Aristotle describe this as a virtue, as the ultimate goal, to have all your needs met and to be self-sufficient.

There is a catch though, in a western capitalist mindset our 'needs' make a pretty long list. Autarkeia is not about having every possible need met, it is about being content with the bare minimum, having only your basic needs and not wanting more.

The secret to getting everything you want is wanting less.

Get skin the game, live lightly.
