It's not about right or wrong
A saying I heard over the weekend,
'It's not about right or wrong, it's about life or death.'
Ethics can be a tricky topic, should the self-driving car's AI value the lives of the passengers more than those of the pedestrians? What if there are one passenger and 3 pedestrians and so on?
Extreme examples aside, we are often more concerned with the validity of our own opinions rather than the effects of our action (or our opinions for that matter).
I'm not saying the ends justify the means, I'm saying we should rather give up our right to be right if it means that there can be life rather than death.
Thoughts?
