Sina Cura
At the start of this week, I'd like to share a word I learned recently: sinecure.
It is an office or position that pays a salary but requires no real work. Sounds like a sweet deal, perhaps.
The origin of the word is "sine cura," which means "without care." Specifically, it meant "without cure of souls," indicating a church position that didn't involve spiritual care for people or instruction of church members.
How many jobs, or entire businesses, do you notice that are nothing more than sinecures? With little or no skin in the game, or little or no care?
