Sled dog team or wolf pack?

Discovered this video on Vimeo today. It is about an imagined conversation between huskies pulling a sled and wolves roaming free. It raises an interesting and very important question. Do you choose freedom or security?   

I cannot tell you the amount of times I’ve had this conversation with freelancers, myself included. Freedom and security are on opposing sides of a sliding scale, the more freedom you want the less security you’ll have, and vice versa. Yes, yes, there are exceptions, but they are very rare, in my experience at least.  

We all have to choose where we are on this scale, and there is no good or bad. I’ve found that at different stages in my life that my preference shifts, at the moment I’m leaning more to the security side of the scale.

The important thing is to know where you want to be and not idealise one or the other. There are pros and cons on both sides, perhaps take some time and write them down?
