Courage, Anger, Agency for the Future

  • Workshop17 Kloof Street Cape Town South Africa (map)

A new Fireside Salon by Bronwyn Williams and Pierre Du Plessis

Thursday 8 October, 15:00 – 17:00, Workshop17 Kloof Street, Cape Town

Lessons from a joker, a saint, and a sinner

In this double-act fireside salon (or keynote), a prophet and a priest walk onto a stage and give you the kick up the pants you need to get up, go forth, and forge your own future.

Wisdom

“God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can; and Wisdom to know the difference” ~ The Serenity Prayer

You will learn to discern when to field your offensive game, and when it’s wiser to invest in defensive leadership skills. (And what those key offensive and defensive skills are).

The greatest wisdom is to Temet Nosce, to know thyself. And in an African voice we ask that you start from the collective, not the individual. To deeply know and understand our light and shadow, our desire and fears.

Serenity

“We must cultivate our own garden” ~ Voltaire

You will learn what to pay attention to, and what is a distraction from your purpose. To separate noise from signal. To accept things that have happened, let go of irrelevant attachments, work with people you cannot control,  master the enemy that is envy, and focus on what you can do with your own hands, right where you are, right now.

You will develop and learn the basics of discernment. How to listen from a deep gut space to yourself and what meaning life is asking you to create.

Agency

“Hope has two beautiful daughters; their names are Anger and Courage: anger at the way things are, and courage to see that they do not remain as they are” ~ Saint Augustine

You will learn how to direct your righteous anger (or just your burning passion) into change – and find the courage to do the next right (hard) thing in spite of it all.

Courage is the foundational virtue, the one the undergirds all the others. If you want to take a hold of the future, the future only belongs to the brave.

Who is this for?

This talk is for leaders, teams, entrepreneurs and builders who are ready to do something, build something, make something that matters. For people who are ready to put aside apathy, take up their agency, and create the future (business, life, career, world) they are capable of.
