A Parable: The boy and the snake

Once, a long time ago, there was a boy who became great friends, best friends, with a snake.

One day, as they were playing out in the field, the snake suddenly bit the boy.

The boy, lying in pain on the ground, asked the snake, 'Why did you bite me, I thought we are friends?'

'Because I'm a snake', the snake replied before slithering away.
