Bread on the water

Cast your bread on the water, an ancient saying probably referring the practice of sowing seeds in flooded rivers, then hoping that when the waters reside the seed will have taken root in the marshy fertile soil.

Point being, we should do our work, our best work, even if it feels like throwing away seed into flooded waters. We do it simply because it is good. Yet, it is incredible how an unselfish generous act has a way of producing a crop, often years after the fact something, feedback, a connection, a blessing returns and if it doesn't or we cannot see it, it doesn't mean it didn't produce a harvest.
