The things you can do, right now.
For the last few days, I've been thinking quite a bit about what brings us hope.
What is it that allows me or enables me to get up each morning?
One thing that is fertile ground for hope is agency.
Having the ability to choose and then act on that choice. The beauty of agency is that no matter how incapacitated, incarcerated, or impotent we might feel or even be, there is always something you can do. Even if it is just to breathe a little deeper or drink another glass of water.
A line from one of my all-time favorite movies goes, "This story is about the Baudelaires. And they are the sort of people who know that there's always something – something to invent, something to read, something to bite, and something to do – to make a sanctuary, no matter how small." - Lemony Snicket, A Series of Unfortunate Events.

Thank you for reading my letters, I’ve built a talk around Hope since I get so many requests for ‘motivational’ talks… And being a bit more of a nihilist this can be difficult. This talk, however, is honest and practical and not filled with Instagram fluff and ‘follow your dreams’ quotes.
It’s real, and it will help you keep moving forward.
It’s on my talks page, let me know if you’re keen.
peace,
pierre
