and it's ... GONE...

I've been doing this practice* for the past week or so

It's called GONE.

It's really simple, whenever you notice that something is over, a thought finished, then note it in your mind.. simply by 'saying'

GONE.

I've been doing it with other events as well, finishing a cup of coffee, saying goodbye to my kids in the morning, finishing a meal.

Absence is important, it is the absence of sound between the notes that make the music. It is also important for us to learn that nothing is permanent, that all will pass away.

Get skin in the game, mark the absence.
