The Wound

I'm back and arrived in a different South Africa.

I've been thinking what to write about all this, as if another opinion is needed, but here goes;

A new divide has been created in our country over the past few weeks, not between race or culture, or even class, but between those who believe and uphold the rule of law and those who do not.*

An important and vital divide.

I'm reminded, and I've posted it a few times over the last months, of a quote by Donald Miller,

‘The human struggle bothered Rick, as if something was broken in the world and we were supposed to hold our hands against the wound” – Blue Like Jazz, Donald Miller.

The wound for once is not only racism, but disrespect for our own law and constitution.

Hold your hand against the wound.

* My wife and I were talking about this topic last week and then this morning my friend Shane sent me this piece by Dr Anthony Turton, who voices it much more eloquently. You can read it here if you like.
